Heath Matiak
Founder - Director
Heath Matiak has been employed with R&D Mechanical since 2011 and became co-owner of the company in January of 2016. He has served in many different capacities over his time with R&D. Currently his role is developing the business from within through focused efforts on long term growth and sustainability. Heath’s leadership of R&D Mechanical Services, Inc. has helped facilitate the exponential growth of the company over the last several years. In 2017, Heath became a Certified Craft Instructor for the HVAC Apprentice Program at the National Center for Construction Education and Research (“NCCER”). Prior to joining R&D Mechanical Services, Inc., Heath served in the US Air Force for 4 years as an elite member of the Air Force Special Operations Command, Tactical Air Control Party. Heath served his country well in 2 deployments to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was injured and subsequently medically discharged from the US Air Force in May 2011. Beginning in 2017, Heath has served on the Advisory Committee of the Cherokee Office of Economic Development and the Advisory Council of Chattahoochee Technical College HVAC Program. In 2018 Heath has had additional opportunities to contribute in similar advisory roles for Cherokee County Schools. Heath is an active member of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and recently received the Top 10 in 10 Young Professional Award (2018), an award showcasing Cherokee County’s top 10 emerging young leaders.

Dana Matiak
President - Executive Director
Dana Matiak is a co-owner of R&D Mechanical Services, Inc. and has owned this business since 2002. Dana serves as the President and Executive Director of Matiak Foundation where she is in charge of all aspects of the day to day operations of the organization. Dana has served in several nonprofit leadership positions Dana was one of the original founders and served on the Board of Directors of Alive Ministries, Inc. as the Secretary of the Corporation as well as serving as the Volunteer Coordinator. Prior to serving with Alive Ministries, Inc., Dana and her husband Robbie were a part of the church plant launch team which became Vinings Lake Church. Dana was instrumental in the rebuilding and renovation of Vinings Lake Church facilities and infrastructure prior to its launch in April 2006. Dana also served as both a volunteer and part time employee of Vinings Lake Church as Community Relations Director. During her time at Vinings Lake Church, Dana worked hand in hand with local schools, businesses and ministries to help coordinate volunteer opportunities for the church members. Dana is a faithful Christian and has a passion and heart to serve others. Dana has served alongside her husband Robbie as a church small group leader for the last 15 years. Robert and Dana currently serve as small group leaders for a young married group at Woodstock City Church.

Robbie Matiak
Vice President - Board Member
Robbie Matiak Since 2002, Robbie has been the co-owner of R&D Mechanical Services, Inc. Prior to starting his own business, Robert worked for one of the largest HVAC mechanical contractors in Atlanta for over 10 years as a service technician and project coordinator. Robbie has a total of 25 years in the HVAC industry in various roles, providing him extensive knowledge and experience in the industry. Robbie was one of the original founders and served on the Board of Directors of Alive Ministries, Inc. Prior to and during his leadership with Alive Ministries, Inc., Robbie served as a member of the Board of Directors of Vinings Lake Church for 9 years. In addition to both spiritual and financial/fiducial accountability and oversight of the Church, his role as a Director of the Church required him to step up and hands on lead wherever he was needed in the day to day operations of the church. In addition to serving on the Board, Robbie and his wife Dana were a part of the initial church plant launch team which became Vinings Lake Church. Robbie was the lead volunteer in charge of the rebuilding and renovation of Vinings Lake Church facilities and infrastructure prior to its launch in April 2006. Robbie is a faithful Christian and leader. He has served as a church small group leader for the last 15 years. Robbie and Dana currently serve as small group leaders for a young married group at Woodstock City Church.

Brian Scully
Treasurer - Board Member
Brian Scully is the Cofounder and Senior Managing Director of Silver Oak Advisors, LLC. Brian has over 18 years experience in state and local jurisdictional compliance, analysis and valuation of business property, compliance software implementation, tax department reengineering, informal negotiations, formal appeal presentation and other comprehensive tax planning services. Brian describes himself as a visionary with the ability to develop strategies and position clients to minimize their overall tax burden and maximize efficiency in tax compliance. In addition, Brian has been previously employed as the Atlanta Office Managing Director and Southeast Regional Director of Property Tax Services at Cushman & Wakefield, Managing Consultant at Paradigm Tax Group, Manager of Property Tax at KPMG, and Manager of the Personal Property Tax Department at Walmart, Inc. Brian has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance and a Paralegal Degree. He is a graduate of Dale Carnegie Institute, Member Engagement/Leadership Development Program, and Sam Walton Institute of Retailing, Management and Leadership Development Program. Brian served on the Board of Directors of Alive Ministries, Inc. Alive Ministries, Inc. launched the Save It Forward initiative, a food pantry in schools’ movement, in Cobb County, Georgia beginning in early 2010. Brian has also served as a Facilitator/Coordinator for Financial Peace University for almost 10 years, teaching individuals and families in various churches around Cobb County how to improve their financial future.

Martin Story
Board Member
Martin Story is currently employed as a District Sales Manager with Rheem Manufacturing Company (“Rheem”), a leading provider of residential and commercial water heaters and boilers, as well as heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (“HVAC”) systems. Prior to joining Rheem in September 2016, Martin was employed with Trane for 8.5 years as part of the Inside Sales Team, Branch Manager, and ultimately Area Manager. Trane is an innovative manufacturer of HVAC systems, building management systems and controls. Martin studied Business Management at Kennesaw State University and Refrigeration Training with Hussman. From 2002 through 2006 Martin served as a Marine Corps enlisted infantryman with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While a part of his unit he deployed on three tours in the Middle East in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In May of 2006 Martin was honorably discharged upon completing his 4 year enlistment. Martin is passionate about serving his community and is excited to inform and educate today’s younger generations in the HVAC trade.

Tony Ewers
Board Member
Tony Ewers has been a teacher/educator for 27 years, 24 of those with
Cherokee County Schools. Tony currently serves as a Work-Based
Learning Coordinator with River Ridge High School. Tony and his wife
Ellen have been married for 23 years and have 3 children and 4
grandchildren.
After 24 years of service Tony retired from the U.S. Air Force as Lieutenant
Colonel.

Bob Kovacs
Board Member
Bob Kovacs has been actively involved in the residential and commercial
construction industries for over 25 years, most recently serving as Vice
President of Preconstruction for a national general contractor doing over
$300 million of work annually in the Atlanta market. Bob is very active in the
Cherokee County community where he’s lived for 17 years. Bob serves on
numerous boards in and around Cherokee County, including Cherokee
FOCUS, the Holly Springs Optimists Club, and the Associated Builders and
Contractors of Georgia Education Committee.
